Raquel Ticson of Area 3 Retail Group happily donates blood

Sherwin Zumarraga of CCO – cool na cool!

  • Ginagawa nitong malinis at maaliwalas ang lugar kung saan ang bawat empleyado ay masisiyahang magtrabaho;
  • Iniiwasan nito ang mabilis na pagkasira ng mga kagamitan;
  • Ihinahanda ang mga kagamitan sa kondisyon na maaaring magamit agad kung kinakailangan;
  • Maiiwasan ang sakit;
  • Maiiwasan ang sakuna;

Honk! Honk! sa mga empleyado sa office!

A short talk with Dr. V

Gung ho!

Employees join Million Volunteer Run 3

MVR3.jpgEven the rain failed to stop our employees from running as they joined the Philippine Red Cross’ Million Volunteer Run 3 on February 6, 2016 at the Mall of Asia compo12642743_10205185994759498_6674207044275264771_nund.

MVR is an annual event of PRC which aims to raise funds for their  humanitarian programs.

“Masaya na sama-sama tayong tumatakbo for a good cause,  sana maulit muli”said Paul Richard Alcoreza, Chief Operating Officer of Meatworld International, Inc.

“It is still fun to run in the rain” said Ellen Callos, OIC- Purchasing dept.

“Magandang exercise ang pagtakbo, masayang experience” said Arnani Baile, Treasury assistant.

And if I may quote Mr. Richard Gordon, Chairman of PRC, he said that there’s no better reason to run, aside from personal health and well-being, than to run for the welfare of suffering humanity. When you run for the cause of the Red Cross, you are in effect running to save lives, he also said

Our employees separately participated in  the 3  and 5 kilometer run but  all ended  in the finish line.

Good work guys!

Honk! Honk!

Gung ho!

Donate blood, save lives

Leave a comment

Blood Flyer BSFWe invite everyone to join us on April 4, 2016 (Monday), 7-11AM at the Gung Ho! head office for a blood-letting activity to be facilitated by Philippine Red Cross.

Last year, more than 50 of our employees and partners became donors and their blood saved more than 150 lives. Some of the beneficiaries were our co-workers and their family members.

The acute shortage of blood and the enthusiastic response of donors last year encouraged us to make this activity a regular event.

But does everyone know why we have to donate blood? Among many reasons, blood-letting:

  • is beneficial to the human heart;
  • facilitates the production of red blood cells;
  • lowers cholesterol level;
  • helps in weigh loss;
  • aids in fighting hemochromitosis;
  • makes the donor psychologically rejuvenated; and
  • saves lives.

Before donating blood, donors are requested to observe these guidelines:

  • Have enough rest and sleep at least 6 hours;
  • No alcohol intake for 24 hours prior to blood donation;
  • No medication for at least 24 hours prior to blood donation;
  • No recent vaccination (except for Hepatitis B);
  • No recent travel abroad;
  • Eat prior to blood donation (avoid fatty foods);
  • Drink plenty of fluid like water or juice;
  • No allergy attack on the day of the donation;
  • No cough/colds;
  • No open wounds;
  • No tooth extraction within the past 3 days;
  • No recent tattoo (at least 6 months).

Donating blood is simple. Just follow these steps:

  • Have your weight taken;
  • Register and complete the donor registration form;
  • Have your blood type and hemoglobin checked;
  • Have a physician examine you;
  • Actual donation- the amount of blood to be donated (either 350cc or 450cc) will depend on your weight and blood pressure. Blood donation will usually take 10 minutes or less.

After donating blood,

  • A 5-10 minutes rest is necessary;
  • Drink plenty of fluid like water or juice;
  • Refrain from stooping down;
  • Refrain from strenuous activities like:
    • Lifting heavy objects
    • Driving big vehicles (bus, truck, etc.)
    • Operating big machines
  • Avoid using the punctured arm in lifting heavy objects;
  • Apply pressure on the punctured site, you may apply cold compress for the first 24 hours and the hot compress for the next 24 hours;
  • If there is dizziness, lie down with your feet elevated. In just a few minutes, it should pass.

Please spread the news! Ask your friends and relatives to join this activity. Register online or text us your name at  0917- 5278909 or 0917- 5982284  on or before Thursday, March 31, 2016 to confirm your attendance.

In addition to this, on March 30, 2016,  a short talk will be conducted by Dr. Robert Venturina to tackle the importance, benefits, do’s and don’ts prior to and after blood donation. This will be held at our Meat Plant at Vitas St., Tondo, Manila at 1:PM.

Let’s make a difference and save lives.

Gung ho!
